It would so happen that the year Cinco de Mayo falls on Taco Tuesday, it gets canceled by a virus with the name Corona (lol). For me, it is also the first time that I have not worked a Cinco at Swell in five years so things have definitely felt a little different. I love me some tequila and what better time to share some recipes than now…
I asked my Instagram followers which marg they would prefer (Cucumber Jalapeño and Smoky Watermelon) and it was a very close competition so I decided to share both with you! You can download printable versions of the recipes below as well!
Mezcal has quickly become one of my favorite spirits, not only to drink but to create new cocktails with. With its smoky body, I like to pair it with something sweet which to me controls the smokiness. The watermelon just reminds me of summer and after this weekend on Long Island, my body is yearning for the summer season to officially be here. I hope you enjoy!!

Calm, Cool and Collected with a hint of spice is what I think of when you put tequila, cucumber, and jalapeños together. Picture a Long Island summer day, you get off the boat, have a bit of a sunburn, start to BBQ, and make yourself this refreshing delicious cocktail. PURE PERFECTION. When this quarantine over… BBQ at my house!! 🕺🏼
⌁ 1 1/2 oz. Tequila Blanco
⌁ 1 oz. Cointreau
⌁ 1/2 oz. Agave
⌁ 3 oz. Cucumber Jalapeño Purée
⌁ 1/2 Cucumber
Depending on how much of an earthy taste you like, you can peel the cucumber. I like an earthy taste, so I left the skin on.
⌁ 1 whole Jalapeño
Depending on how spicy you like it, you can deseed the jalapeño.
⌁ 1/4 cup of water
In a Ninja or Bullet (a blender will do, if you don’t have either one) add all contents of purée.
Blend until smooth
Add ingredients to a shaker with ice
Shake it like a polaroid picture (or until your hands are really cold)
Rim glass with salt (+some chili powder if you wanna get creative)
Strain contents of shaker over ice (double strain if your purée is a little chunky for you)
Garnish with a lime wheel
Snap your insta photo ✌🏼
Enjoy!
